How many of us get proper training in financial competency? We have a training course called Finance for non-finance managers at work and it teaches you how to manage your budgets and forecasting but not as well as I think this book explained it. As the author notes, instead of wond This book makes so much sense. Monopoly Money, and You reveals simple lessons to play the game and also to use your game plan else where. I like how the book has dual purpose you can use it at work and in your home. I received this book from the publisher.more
As a personal finance book, unless you are at the very beginning of thinking about such things, this is more an entertainment.
#Monopoly money update
As a quick update on Monopoly, this isn't a bad way to go. Now that my typical Monopoly opponents are my kids, and I have to take it easy on them, this is more a philosophical enjoyment. I have read Monopoly strategy guides in past decades, and this brought back that feeling that you really understood how to pulverize your opponents. This was new to me - I guess I haven't purchased a new Monopoly game in the 6 or so years since this came out, and was happily ignorant of the changes. While I did not value this aspect of the book, I was happily surprised that this was a basic strategy guide for Monopoly with the new versions of the rules including the speed die. I believe the author could have made as pertinent links from the game for other things, like foreign relations or migration patterns of birds. And often, those connections were quite a reach. These snippets, like the advice pointing out that savings accounts are less risky than real estate or stock investments, were quite basic - maybe too basic for most readers that would read a book about Monopoly. I did not get much out of the personal finance angle of the book. It does this using two methods, walking through three games and showing how the action and decisions relate to personal finance, and walking through the rules and conventions of the game, and tying these to personal finance activities.
